Perfect for outdoor activities such as:
- Stream / lake side bbq, while fishing
- Stow easily away, on small water crafts
- Hiking / Backpacking super light to haul
- Quick hot meal, while attending sports events
- On the job meal, in remote areas
- Beach bbq
The Coleman 9940-A55 Roadtrip Party Grill, is a wonderful mini compact grill, it should not be purchased, to replace any mid-size grill, or even to be compared to one. Being a mini compact grill, it does have limitations that would naturally go along with it’s size. Perfect for two – three people, anymore would be pushing beyond it’s capabilities.
Some, Good Points to Owning the Coleman Party Grill:
- Easy to carry, easy to assemble, and most importantly, easy to use
- Reliable, portable grill
- A small section of the grill is solid and flat for use as a griddle
- Cooking speed is greatest in the center, slower toward the edges
- Great for boiling
- Grill can be assembled in less than 10 minutes, no tools are required
- Push button start
- Uses propane cylinder (not included)
- Total grill is dishwasher-safe except the burner assembly
- Blue plastic lid, which also can be used to steady your grill on soft surfaces, such as sand
- PerfectFlow regulator ensures consistent cooking performance in cold weather, high altitudes or when fuel is low
- Detailed instructions are included
A grill this size must have a downfall:
Understandable, with a mini grill, there may be some shortcomings. It’s a trade-off that comes with ultra portability but should not have an impact on the buyer, if keeping in mind this is a mini grill.
- May have a flimsy feel to it
- Too small for more then 3 people
- Single middle burner
- Thick cuts may not cook evenly
Important User Tip:
Once you get the grill in place, leave it there–the removable legs can fall out if you’re moving the grill from place to place.
All in all, customers are thrilled with the performance of the Coleman 9940-A55 Roadtrip Party Grill.

I Just got this the other day, and could not wait to try it out. Does pretty good for the size, although you have to keep turning what you are cooking over and over to keep from burning. The only drawback I can see if you fill it up to the ‘max’ line with water, then it makes a bit of a mess when you dump it out. Clean up is a breeze. All in all, not a bad little item to take to the beach or camping.

It is “OK”…Not the quality I expected but I kept it and will use it…Putting, and keeping the grill plate on the unit is somewhat of a balancing act….The propane bottle is very hard to line up and screw into the unit from a flat surface…I moved the unit to the edge of the table so the bottle would “hang over”…You can put the parts (legs etc.) inside the unit for storage, but it is somewhat of a puzzle to get them to fit…I think it is over priced…..

Calling this a grill seems a bit of a misnomer. Essentially, it’s a single burner camping stove that comes with a grill grate cover that really acts more like a skillet with holes in it. The flame is very close to the grill grate and propane burns hot. Though the burner flame is adjustable, it is difficult to regulate the heat effectively. It also cooks unevenly, with items in the middle (over the burner jets) cooking very quickly and items on the sides cooking very slowly. Thick cuts of meat or fish are problematic because A) they are too big to move around on the grill top for even cooking and B)the grill has no cover and burns so hot that you will cook the outside of your thicker cuts while the inside will stay cool.
If you are looking for a grill that performs like a miniature backyard gas/propane barbecue, this is not your product. If you want a small, easy to use, single burner for camping/tailgating and plan to use if for boiling, and/or grilling hotdogs and burgers, it serves pretty well.

I already had one and I am planning to buy one more for my sister. I just like to cook different types of dishes on it. I find it very compact, convenient and easy to transport anywhere.
Thank You. Well done.
