5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little BBQ, and made in the USA,
June 2, 2010

Took this little powerhouse camping and it BBQed everything excellent. It is a very well made grill, and it is very solid, not cheap at all. You get what you pay for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little BBQ, and made in the USA,
June 2, 2010

I read almost all of the reviews here before I ordered. I had to have it. It is a fun grill to use! She gets real hot and sears meat like only cast iron can.

Pros-
solid yet small. Not cavernous like my Weber kettle which wastes charcoal unless your cooking for an army
perfect for using kabob skewers. The stick hangs over the grill so you can turn with your fingers
I put it in my gas grill and can close the lid to keep the rain out. Great storage in a bigger grill
Gets super hot for searing
Love the flat grill top. you can put a fry pan right on top. If you leave off the grill top you can do a rotiseree right over the coals

Cons
you gotta clean it and prevent rust by cleaning and oiling
The vent sliding door is not attached so it can be lost or slide off the unit easily in moving. Plus, really who adjusts the air when cooking. Its either balls open or closed, I might leave it off
lots of nooks and crannies for grease to drip and gather, leaving some slop when mixed with coal ash.

All in all a great buy. Fun at home and camping. And for me, if your using your gas grill, it's quick and conveinant but not fun....a weekday thing. If your using charcoal, then it feels more like a weekend, it's special..your really grilling

5.0 out of 5 stars My two cents worth,
March 18, 2010

I have been using a lava rock gas grill for the past 26 years, but got tired of having to buy a sub-standard Chinese made low quality stainless steel H-burner every year for around 55 dollars. The original H-burner lasted for about a dozen years before finally giving out. The replacement burners will last about one season. So, I figured I would go back to our original Hibachi grill. The ones that looked like the old 1970's grills are also made overseas, and are of poor quality. Enter the Lodge Grill (made in the USA). This thing is built like a Sherman tank, and will probably outlast me. I've used it three times and now know why so many people give it 5 stars. At first, I was a little put off because there were only two heights to have the grilling surface at. But guess what? You only really need two heights. I only use the highest level, since it works for burgers, steaks, or chicken. I also bought a quick start charcoal chimney. Within ten minutes of deciding I want to grill dinner, I have my food on the grill. I still miss the convenience of my gas grill, but am perfectly happy with this charcoal grill. Another nice point to make is that the Lodge grill fits inside my old gas grill, so I have a way of covering the grill to give my food a little extra smokey flavor. Also, it always bothered me to be done cooking and still have a nice bed of coals burning, so I got creative. When the meat is done, I toss on a bunch of raw peanuts (in the shell). By the time we are done eating, so are the peanuts. Roasted to perfection, I might add. You won't be sorry that you bought this grill, especially since it's now well below the $107 that I paid for it. One last thing; cleaning out the ashes is a snap. The day after using the grill, I simply lift out the grate and dump the spent coals in the garden. They tend to hold their shape and not drop into the bottom of the firebox.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lodge Logic Grill,
March 17, 2010

I was pleased with the timely arrival of the grill, unfortunately there was several cracks in the grilling grate. It did take me awhile to get into contact with the person I needed to contact regarding this problem. There was an email address on the
packing slip with a great message about who to contact. After a couple of weeks, I went back into the Amazon site and found a way to email the distributer that way, and was able to get ahold of someone right away. They say they never got they messages I sent before (I don't know if that is true - I do have the date stamps on my messages), but they gave me the information on how to get a replacement grill grate right away then. It only took about a week for that to arrive. Overall other than the hassle I was happy with the purchase. Thanks
